Both Mark Harmon and Rocky Carroll, who play Gibbs and Vance respectively on NCIS, agree that the success of the CBS procedural is due in large part to it being not your typical procedural.

“You’ve got to have a thick skin to work here. This is a group who likes to have fun,” says Harmon, while Carroll credits the fact that the NCIS characters are three-dimensional, including their quirks and idiosyncrasies.

Aliyah Just the tention between Tony and Ziva and the whole cast being kind of up-tight. Especially when Ziva finally snaps. It scared me half-to-death.♥ MelindaCBS
Chimera The epp wos not dramatic as much, more like i woz scared stiff. Well it woz quite dramatic when Ziva was chasing after her "ghost" i woz like Ahhhh! Luvzivaluvncis
Aliyah Aliyah had so many plot twists and turns, and majour heart stoppingness. It was the most dramatic and tensioned filled episode ever esmerallda
Aliyah Tony…and Ziva. I was freaking out 'cause I read someone was leaving and I thought Tony was gonna die and then I thought Ziva was gonna die…and then it ended and I was pretty sure I was gonna die. omgxitsxemmerz
Bury your dead Picking up from S4 finale, a fitting end (almost) to the La Grenouille plot. praveenpp

Exclusive: NCIS Gets Real U.S. Secretary of the Navy for a Cameo

Ray Mabus, Mark Harmon and Madeline Carroll, NCIS

The United States Secretary of the Navy will make a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of NCIS , TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Check out photos of the NCIS cast
Secretary Ray Mabus will appear in the Nov. 24 Thanksgiving episode entitled "Child’s Play," a rep for the show tells us. Mabus will play an NCIS agent. Watch Mabus on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
In the episode, Gibbs ( Mark Harmon ) and the team have to put their Thanksgiving plans on hold when the investigation of a dead Marine leads them into the life of a 12-year-old prodigy ( Madeline Carroll ), who may be the killer’s next target. Lisa Sheridan ( Invasaion) and Francis Capra ( Veronica Mars ) will also guest-star. Although Mabus won’t be playing himself, NCIS has featured a secretary of the Navy character on the show before. Jude Ciccolella ( 24 ) portrayed the secretary in three episodes last season

Pop Life I can't really explain it, but I just didn't like that episode at all. ( I also agree with NCISlover161) MelindaCBS
N/A Even though it may seem like you hate some of the episodes, when you really think about it, you don't hate it. Whatever happens is for the best. mrs.timothymcgee
Recoil It was out of character and really messed up. The whole thing was unnecessary and and I just didn't like it. Nkisslover494
Once a Hero A very bland uneventful episode and all that crying and mushy-ness just don't fit in NCIS. G1bbs47
Knockout Too much Vance, and I didn't get the bit about the eye, and how both Vance and the boxer had it. Really confusing, but in saying this they are all really really awesome, and I love all of them esmerellda
Knockout It was a fairly confusing episode in my eyes, also the whole boxing thing didn't grab me and Vance isn't really a favourite character or mine. NCISlover161
Recoil I think I cried. They made Tony SUCH a jerk to Ziva, and I was like, bawling. And everyone seemed SO out of charecter. omgxitsxemmerz
Love & War The story was not so good, doesn't fit to be an NCIS episode. praveenpp

Funniest NCIS Episode Ever

What's Your Funniest NCIS Episode Ever?

EPISODE
WHY

Silver War It's the first episode with Ziva really "in" it and it's so funny with DiNozzo and everybody. How Tony was trying to impress Ziva. It was just funny all the way through, from the first part about the GSM magazine to the, "Ziva, CAR CAR CAR!!" part. MelindaCBS
Caught on Tape It was hilarious when Tony had to go clean the interrogation room because that redneck had taken a whiz in it. ;) )))
And when Tm got poison Ivy and he admitted that he might have it on his….
mrs.timothymcgee
Driven The entire sexual harassment training scene. And then throughout the episode they refer back to it, "Does this constitute a a red light light situation?" shalomziva
Driven Exactly the same reasons as shalomziva, but i'd also like to add the scene where tony is undercover and singing everything he says to Jenny. This ep had me in stiches the whole way through it.
Driven All of the Sexual Harrasment Course scene – Abby saying "I can't hug anybody?" and then Ziva where she leans down and licks Tony's neck as an example of "un-welcomed touching" and then when Tony demonstrates a Gibbs head slap on McGee and he hits him back and Palmer saying "what if your job includes, touching dead naked people?" and the woman is like "why are you touching dead naked people?" TivaIsTheBest
Undercovers Where Tony is chatting up Maya (dressed as a maid) and Ziva goes "I'm pregnant Tony" TivaIsTheBest
Chimera Tony has so funny, over dramatic lines in this, along with Gibbs, and yes, Jenny! McGee and Ziva play along easily with Tony and of course, Ziva-ism's are projected. omgxitsemmerz
Family Secret This episode is not about a murder investigation, the scene where Gibbs marches into Jenny's office, Tony on McGee's computer chatting with another NCIS agent. praveenpp

Chimera It was so funny! And I loved when Tim and Tony were in the electrical room and Tony was tellin Tim that he was going to die, I thought it was funny the way Tim rolled his eyes at him. mrs.timothymcgee
Requiem The episode mainly centred around Gibbs and has more action that he physically gets involved in than most other episodes G1bbs47
Heartland This episode was a great example of what makes NCIS a great show. It had a terrifc character driven plot, emotional and hilarious moments, and a very powerful ending. Cassierules
Call of Silence This episode tells the story of Ernie Yost, who killed his buddy on Iwo Jima. The amount of emotion shown by the characters is just phenominal! GIGuppy
Call of Silence This episode showed what a marine would do to prove the innocence of another jhood89
Call of Silence I'm a recent convert to this show. Was really po'ed when it replaced L&O 3 hrs a nite. Finally started watching because of McCallum(Man from UNCLE) and got hooked! Have seen about 20% of the episodes, the best being "Call of Silence". Have been a Charles Durning fan since I saw him on Richard Widmark's series Madigan in the 70's. Great story, acting. Very touching and realistic. Gibbs doggedness to help a fellow marine AND a medal of honor recipient were riveting. Durning was magnificent and sympathetic. Best scenes: Yost & Kate dancing while she shed a tear and Tony pulling Yost's tie aside to display the medal to the three military personnel who snapped to salute! dadsfav
Truth or Consequnces A very different screenplay, funny moments despite the tense storyline, and most importantly, no main cast member was killed. praveenpp
